The Formula - Episode 14 | The Taper Fade
In this episode of The Formula Ronnie Mack takes you behind the cut with "The Taper" demonstrating how to cut a proper taper fade.

#1 Rough look.

#2 Determine the desired length for the cut, and pay attention to the growth patterns.  The customer’s preference will determine if you will cut with the grain or against the grain.

#3 A taper usually is in the temporal area, but not restricted to that area. With or without side burns a taper can be bald, light or dark. Blend in slowly & patiently.

#4 Taper the nape of the neck up to the occipital bone. While using small precise cutting strokes, watch the growth patterns on the neck. You can keep a line on the neck or blend it in.

#5 A clean even line around the taper will complete the look. With the clients consent, a razor gives the best results. If the client requests only clippers, adjusted edgers will do the job as well.

#6 Apply antiseptic to soothe the skin, and follow with a desired styling product to complete the look.

A. I prefer the Wahl Detailers. It has a clean, close t-edge blade that allows you to detail to perfection.
